Although I have only been a resident of this state for two years, I just recently learned of how the management policies at the zoo have changed, and how many of these policies are affecting the elephants entrusted to their care. My family and I have agreed that even though we had originally considered visiting and supporting the Woodland Park Zoo, we now have no intention of ever giving them our business as long as current policies and management are in place. Somewhere along the line, people in authority began only looking at the bottom line for profits, instead of being good custodians of the animals who all ultimately are their responsibility. It is a shameful fact for a city and state of this size to employ people who are unqualified to work with animals who show more intelligence and have gentler personalities than those in charge over them. There is not enough space to express my anger and frustration at human behavior to the animal kingdom around us.

I have no intention of ever visiting Woodland Park Zoo again. I have lived in Seattle for 10 years and have visited the zoo one time. I love animals and believe that they should be left in the wild in their natural habitat. Who are you as humans to say that they should be put in a little amount of space so that the city can make money off of them. Please put the beautiful animals in a sanctuary so that they can have more space to run around and ENJOY life. As long as the animals suffer, we as people will continue to suffer. Please think about this SEATTLE…..please boycott the ZOO!
